Fall fishing continues to be awesome in the middle Chesapeake. Seahawk charters yielded great rock action with some nice puppies mixed in. The water has been very clean and warming from 59 degrees on Monday to 64 degrees on Wednesday. With temperatures like these shallow water tactics will be our focus for the immediate future. Spec action has subsided for us this week. However farther south the bite is still strong. We had our best luck on natural or muted colors like salt and pepper, shad and pearl skipped across the bottom on jig heads. Tide has not made a lot of difference as long as the water is moving.
The fall fishing of 2020 is much better than pretty near anything else this year has offered up. All jokes aside the fishing has been pretty darn good. Today I was privileged to take Mr Craig and Mr Matt on a shallow water casting trip out of Crisfield. We had a inshore slam with reds, spec , along with a slew of rock. The fish bit consistently on both sides of low water. Most were taken on albino ghost and electric chicken 4”assassins on old school jig heads. The surf as well is producing some puppies along with kingfish and a few blues. Get out this weekend and enjoy our Eastern Shore!!!
