Light winds and clear sky’s are always a precursor to bent rods and big smiles. This coming weekend looks like an awesome opportunity to partake in the thing we love in the place we love to do it!

The flounder bite , from Wachapreague to Chincoteague has been pretty consistent with most of the action coming on the last of the ebb but most importantly when clear water is abundant. Silversides have definitely produced more bites on pink and chartreuse Sea Hawk rigs. We have spent most of our time in water depths of less than 10 feet and most in less than 5 feet.

The drum have been prevalent in both the seaside surf as well in the vast shallowsof the Chesapeake. These bottom feeding brawlers have taken an array of baits including sea clam, hard crab, and sand fleas fished on a modified fish finder rig or the old dependable hi-lo. There has also been several rock landed while attempting to acquire a tasty drum filet, but remember these sporty striped trophies most be returned to the water to ensure future angling opportunities.

The Pocomoke still has some panfishing picks as anglers pursue crappie and perch with jigs and rigs tipped with worm and minnows. The river’s of the Eastern shore are also offering some xl blue cats. In fact we had some of our good friends make a great showing at the Sharptown catfish tournament with whisker laden monsters to 32 pounds.

With the weekend approaching, make sure you get your boat gassed up and rods ready to go. And most of all get out there and enjoy this wonderful place we call home!!!

From”Springtime Turkeys “, to “ Seaside Flounder” to “Pocomoke Perch”…. It would take one heck of a “Drum” to beat Eastern Shore fishing no matter what the weather is!! Well, we’ve got them too!!!!

Well the say April showers bring May flowers, so it ought to be a pretty colorful place come next month. However, between the rain drops the Eastern Shore has started to produce some springtime sport that will get your blood flowing like a full moon tide.

The Pocomoke has produced a variety of panfish from black perch to crappie with a few bass and blue cats in between. The perch have been targeted on harder bottom with bloodworm tipped bottom rigs. Ebb tide has been the most productive time while fishing depths of 10-15 feet of water. The crappie have taken chartreuse, white, and pink jigs tipped with small minnows trolled in 4-10 foot depths. There’s been a few perch brought to dinner using these same tactics as an added bonus to an otherwise “crappie “ day.

The black drum have been beating the shallows of the Pocomoke and Tangier Sounds as well as the surf of the Va barrier islands. Fish finder rigs baited with hard crab or clam seem to inspire the rhythm and promote a bend in the rod.

While the weather man has a pessimistic look on a forecasted windy weekend , take a chance between the guests and get out there and enjoy this wonderful place we call home!
